Snow, Snow... Thank you for coming!
Finally we have some decent snow in the Twin Cities. And then we had a snow emergency so I decided to rant and rave about snow emergencies in the Metro area.
1. It's Minnesota.. why are we calling a snow emergency on the first snow fall of the season?
2. I know you need to plow the streets but can we make it a little more convenient for everyone? Being a college student we have many cars for one driveway. Where are we supposed to park? We have to resort to parking in the back yard.
3. If you are going to plow into my driveway, please keep it light because I may be a strong, tough guy but shoveling a thousand pounds of snow is tough on a guy.
4. Other than that, loving the snow and the winter feel around here.
Finals are right around the corner and its a stressful time. Working on some Lake Life stuff calms me down and always puts me in the right mind set.
Thanks for everyone who supports us. And can't wait to get the new shirts in. They are going to be sick!
Right on...

The Holiday Season is apon us
Hey Lake Lovers. As you may have noticed the holiday season is getting into to full swing and things at Lake Life have been very busy as well. We have been putting the finishing touches on our new line that is soon to be available in on-line store. We are very excited about newest editions to the collection. We have worked with an up and coming local Minnesota Artist to create some wicked cool Lake Life shirts. I can't give any specific details as to what the shirts will be like, but they will be something that we have not done at Lake Life before!
We know as well as anyone that shopping for people on the Holiday can be a difficult task. But we feel when the new line comes out that the shirts and hats will go fast. So be sure to order yours for the Lake Lover in your life!
In other news from the Lake Life head quarters we are starting to compile designs for our 2010 line. If anyone has a cool suggestion or thought for a cool shirt or hat drop us a line at Lake-life.com in the comments section of our website. But as always we are missing the lake right now. The cold weather can only make us think of warm days out on the boat!
Well im outta here, so until next time, keep posted for the new line, and enjoy the Holiday season.

Sorry we've been away... we've been busy!
So since the hockey season is in full swing we have been extremely busy with all the things going on. It seems as if time is flying by us and we can do nothing to stop it. If only we could stop it just to have some time for anything. Well even though we are both busy with hockey and our senior year, we do make a lot of time for the business.
We are currently in the process of launching the new line and cannot wait to get it out. If you saw any of the updates on Twitter or Facebook, we recently brought on our good friend and teammate Ryan Kurtz as a freelance designer. We love what he has already brought to the family and can't wait for others to see what he has. You can see his other work on his website: www.kurtzart.com .
With the new product line coming out we are moving toward the catalog creation and getting a list together of retailers and resorts to contact about getting the new line into some stores.
With all the things going on we sometimes forget to slow things down and take everything in. This holiday season be thankful for what we have and what God has given us all. I know its getting cold up here in Minnesota but its never to early to day dream about an 80 degree day at the lake.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Missing summer
Sitting at lake life headquarters right now getting ready for the Grape Stomp this weekend in Alexandria at Carlos Creek Winery. Im so excited to get out and set up shop there. Its a great time because you can get personal interaction with the customers. You get feed back from fellow lake lovers and you might even get a chance to hear there latest story from the lake.
Today was the first day of my senior year. The years have flew by. Speaking of another thing that flew by was the summer. I got a chance to spend Memorial weekend at the cabin. It was a all i could ask for. I got the last fishing of the season in and relaxed on the boat with family and friends. I miss it already.
We launched the new web site today, and it is sic. It gives people who visit us on the web a taste of what we are all about. Besides displaying products there are downloadable wallpapers and a really cool video of our day at the lake with the Lake Life team. Huge props to Marco Zizter's Web site designing company MZ Productions. He did a fantastic job. Until Next time, get on that lake before it stats freezin up.

As summer winds down
As summer slowly winds down we are limited in our amazing nights and hot days. The water on the lake cools down and we fall into autumn (no pun intended). Here at Lake Life we are making our way toward fall and toward school time. We are both going to be seniors and this is the best time of our life.
When school starts we will be limited in our time to work on our love and spend less time at the lake. Its a sad time of year but also the a great time. When you are out on the lake its a time of peace for everyone. This past weekend, I was able to spend time great time with family and friends out on the lake.
When you and your friends are able to grab a drink and spend some time on the lake really value the time because we are almost out of summer nights. Fall is right around the corner so spend your time wisely and get on the water.
I will try to make the next well a little sooner. Until next time. Get out on the lake.

Almost August
Can you believe its almost August? The summer is almost 2/3 the way done and what do we have to show for it?
Well its been a great summer so far, but there are a few things that we have left to do.
1) Trip up to Rose Lake (Will be checked off after this weekend)
2) Build a legit rail to hit up at Osakis
3) Paint the town in Lake Life
4) Have a photo shoot for some lifestyle pics
5) The unknown
Couple weeks ago I was sitting in the middle of the lake on the jetski, it was a windy day and there were almost no other boats on the water. I couldn't hear anything but the wind and the waves. It was a moment that I could have for myself and just think about how life has gone thus far. I was thinking more specifically about Lake Life as a company and wondering what we have done so far and where we are going. I thought to myself.. ya know what we have progressed a lot since our first shirts. In our whole drive in business has developed into a legit business. I am proud of where we are at and where we are headed, the sky is definitely the limit. It's been fun so far and I can only imagine how much fun there is yet to come.
Have a great weekend, get on the lake!

What is Lake Life...
Every once in a while someone asks me "What is Lake Life all about?" And it is very difficult for me to give a definite answer, that is because its a difficult question. Lake Life is whatever you make of it. Living the life at the lake is different for everyone. For someone its hitting the water to wakeboard for others its dropping a line in the water.
And for some its not even getting into the lake. So here is the deal, there is not an exact answer to the question. You make the life however you want. So the next time you are in the water or around the water just think.. "what is my lake life?" And think long and hard, and when you finally think of that answer, smile and look at the water.
Because that fresh water is what we all live for. Whether its skiing, swimming, tanning, fishing, reading or just relaxing by the lake; wearing a Lake Life shirt can really put you at ease. So the Lake Life name is a tag line itself, it doesn't need anything extra just some relaxed feel and a cool design. So sit back, relax and enjoy the warm waters. Get on the lake!
Until next time, reach for a cold one and put your feet up. Its lake time!

New found love...
Last summer I devoted a majority of my love to a new sport. The sport of wakeskating. Now I had for many years loved wakeboarding and was into everything about it. That all changed when I decided to have something to do behind the PWC. Now as some of you may know, you cannot really wakeboard behind a jetski. Without a wake there is nothing really to do.
But with wakeskating you are doing skateboard tricks and do not necessarily need the big wake. So therefore I fell in love with wakeskating. I was all about it, trying new tricks and loving the freedom of being "binding less."
A couple of weekends ago I was on my way up to the lake with a new wakeboard magazine and was reading an article about getting more pop off the wake with less work. I read it and thought I would give it a try. Boy was it right. I used a different kind of edge into the wake and hit the wake with so much pop I didn't know what to do. From then on I fell back into love with wakeboarding. Trying new stuff on the wakeboard I never thought possible behind our boat. Getting more comfortable on my switch footing and more.
Now that the 4th of July is approaching and the following weekend, I know this will come in handy for everyone. Now get out there and try something new, you never know how much fun it is and enjoyable everything is. And even if you fall, make sure you get up and try it again. The fun of wakeboarding and wakeskating is always being able to get up and try it again. Get pulled til your arms fall off.
Until next time, "Hit the Lake"

Falling...
Falling in anything is tough, but its the ability to get up is the true test of character. Falling in a water sport is a very helpless feeling. Whether you are trying a new trick and can't seem to land it or just a beginner falling because well.. you are a beginner. But its the fact that you are getting up and trying again. Falling puts your body in control of another element, whether it be speed or gravity, you are going to fall hard.
Letting the boat turn around and pick you up again creates character, trying a new trick 20 times before you stick it. The reward of the time that you land that trick cannot be put into words. I think this is similar to the position of the United States right now. We are going through some troubled times with employment, health insurance and many other issues.
With the 4th of July coming up, it is the right time to come together as a nation and know that even though we are falling right now we will eventually get up. We are a very resilient nation and can bounce back from anything. 4th of July is a time for friends and family, lets have everyone make sure we count our blessings this 4th. Because we are the lucky ones to have the ability to get out on the water and enjoy the fresh waters of the lake.
So take nothing for granted and get out on the lake, whatever activity you enjoy. Enjoy with friends and family. The summer is a time for rejoice, so rejoice already. Until next time...

Lake City Approaches Quickly
After some time off from working the streets with our new stuff. We have the Lake City - Water Ski Days coming up this month. This will be our first opportunity to get our stuff in the public eye that isn't a friend or relative of ours.
It should be a great experience. If anyone is going to be in Lake City during these days let me know because it would be great to see any of your faces there.
On that note we are producing some new shirts in the upcoming weeks. They are very nice shirts and will look great on any body this summer.
The weather is slowly getting warmer and will be nice to get out on the lake a little more. On the wakeskate front I am progressing my riding very nicely so far this summer and hope to do more riding.
That is all for now, it will be less time in between posts next time. Until then, get out to the LAKE.

To slide or not to slide
There has been a question the last 10 years from wakeboarders and wakeskaters everywhere. The question is whether or not to hit rails on the water. Now originally wakeboarding was a sport that was all about hitting the wake and getting air to do gnarly tricks. But in recent years the development of the sport and the influence from other sports has lead to a high number of rails being built in lakes all over the country.
I write this because I myself have been debating it for the last year or so. Some of the risks can include:
1) Dangerous: Well it sure as hell isn't the safest thing to do on a board.
2) Public Lake: If you live or have a cabin on a public lake, who says someone can just snag your rail that you spent so much time building.
3) Money: Wood and components are expensive now a days, do you really want to spend $200 on something that could last a weekend?
These are all things to consider when thinking about building a rail. But there are many positives when coming to building the rail. The rail can progress your riding to the next level, where everyone can stand on a wakeboard but not many people are hitting rails on a constant basis.
So I think the decision on my part is build the rail and see how it works. The worst that can happen is you learn something and you always have good company when building anything.

First weekend at the lake = FAILURE
I don't want to call it a total failure but the first weekend at the cabin this season was not a success. I had very high hopes, which I probably should not have but when you have a six to seven month "punishment" from the lake you want to get back on the lake. Living in Minnesota we have a shorter season than others around the country.
Being only able to be on the lake a short amount of time during the year it makes you take advantage of every opportunity you have to get out on the lake. I say this because there are only 12 weekends in the summer. And while others in Cali, Fla and other southern states are riding all year we have limited days on the water.
So when you drive all the way up to the lake with a couple buddies, a camera and some high hopes you are really let down when you pull into the driveway and there are whitecaps crashing over the beach. Now our cabin on Osakis is already a windy lake but never this windy. I could surf on the waves that were coming in. This disappointment was carried over to the next day when the wind almost picked up. All while everyone was so excited to get onto the lake, we resorted to sitting inside and having some breakfast. Not the best cabin experience.
Moral of the story, don't take for granted those summer weekends of perfect water and sunny days. They are few and far between but just remember this summer, Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes for a reason. Enjoy those lakes and they will return the favor.
